We finally left the comfort of the Shangri-La Mactan and Emmie has taken to traveling so well - her eyes are wide open and her smile is huge! We had to queue at the port for about 40 mins to get our tickets on the Ocean Fast ferry from Cebu to Bohol and then make our way over to the terminal, pay our terminal fees, check in, get our boarding passes and sort out luggage with a porter. Emmie was fine. She just seemed to love it.
Our tickets were business class so we were upstairs and it really seemed no different to downstairs - I only booked business (2100 pesos) because I was told the other seats were below the waterline (hahah now I see how silly that is) and from now on economy is the way for us. We boarded on time, it was so simple and smooth.
It was a pretty uneventful ride over, lovely coastal scenery and white beaches, jungle mountains and blue, blue skies. Emmie slept, I did some writing and before we knew it we were watching the awesome 'It's more fun in the Philippines' video and arriving at Tagbilaran port
We were met by a bloke on a tricycle (400 pesos) who took us to our room at Amelie's Pension, (four nights for 8000 pesos - peak, peak being Chinese New Year) about 10 mins from Alona Beach. Our room is fine. It's small and clean and there's a tv so Em is happy. The girls who run the pension are very sweet and there's only five other rooms and everyone so far is nice and quiet!
We headed straight to the famous Alona Beach where Em jumped straight in and started playing with some local kids. The beach is nice enough, it's quite narrow and sadly a little dirty with beer bottles and scraps along the shoreline. Restaurants line the beach and it's full of tourists, but not very rowdy just very, very busy.
We made some sand castles, had a massage each, ate dinner and bought each other a bracelet before I piggy-backed Emmie back up the hill and took a tricycle home - driven by Dario a single man whose number I now have if anyone is interested!
As Emmie would say - best day ever! Just look at this happy little face!
